The following is a brief insight into how the Club was formed.

As long ago as December 1972, a certain monthly car magazine named Hot-Car (now renamed Performance Car) printed this article:-

***************************

HEY - YOU ANGLIA OWNERS!

Act now! you can have a club if you want one. It could be great stuff. But its up to you!

If you want a National Anglias Owners club, sit down and write to us now . We know an existing organisation that deals with Fords, which can get the whole thing off the ground. But write to us, and we'll pass every letter to them. But act now. There are thousands of Anglias - spares are getting short - plenty of sports potential is being lost - its got a great future. So if you want to be part of a National Anglia Owners Club, write to Anglia c/o Hot Car Magazine, at this address. And enclose an SAE.

**************************

Well, I wrote and offered my services to help get the club off the ground. Alas however, due to lack of support and other factors, the club did not get under way, though I did have printed some 250 membership cards and other stationary in anticipation.

Renewed interest was stirred again in April 1981 when an article in 'Practical Classics' magazine concerning the then new Assistant Editor, John Williams (now their Editor) showed he had in fact learned to drive in an Anglia 105E's.

This happened in November 1981 when in the same magazine (Practical Classics) Paul Guiness wrote saying he was hoping to form a club for Ford Anglia.

In December 1981 the Ford 105E Owners' Club was formed, and with the help of other officials named, we have seen the club grow from strength to strength both in terms of membership numbers and benefits available to members.

We are now officially recognised as a motor club by the Ford Motor Company, the Royal Automobile Club (MSA) Ltd and the Automobile Association.

1984 marks the Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Anglia following its launch in September 1959. May we wish you all continued safe motoring until the year 2006 when the club will celebrate its own Silver Jubilee.

John Colyer

General Secretary
