9. Front brake adjustment every 5,000 miles. It is best to use this ring spanner.Tighten each of the two square headed screws on the brake back plates until the wheel is "solid". Slacken by two notches, which can easily be felt, or until the wheel spins freely. If the shoes are scuffing slightly on the drum, tread on the brake pedal when the wheel is spinning as this will ensure that the shoes become properly centralised.

10. Rear brake adjustment. There is only one cam spindle to be adjusted per wheel, and this is best reached from underneath, in front of the rear axle. Use the same procedure as at the front. Earlier cars had a second square headed bolt, behind the axle line - leave this alone. The handbrake usually requires no extra no extra adjustment. Check the condition of the linings, as scored drums are expensive to grind or replace.

11. Keep the reservoirs topped up with the correct Fomoco fluid.

 

 

12. General

Such regular service jobs as lubricating dynamo rear bearing, tightening fan belt, topping up damper units etc. have been covered in previous Servicing at Home articles and the Anglia does not differ in these respects. A high pressure grease gun is needed for the nipples on the balljoints at the outer end of the track control arm supports and at either end of the two track rods.Earlier cars prior to April 1963 had nipples on the prop. shaft universal joints as well.
